Serving as the Assistant Vice President of Campus Services at The University of Texas at San Antonio, Clay’s portfolio includes Parking, Transportation, Dining Services, Bookstore, Vending, Student ID Card, and Distribution Services. He oversees more than 100 employees and responsible for over a $40M financial impact to the campus annually. With an inventory of 49 lots and 4 structures, he oversees nearly 15,000 parking spaces on three separate campuses. The student transit operation includes a fleet of 42 buses providing more than 2 million passenger rides annually.
Transferring to UTSA in 1993 to complete his degree, Clay found employment at the University Police Department as a student ticket writer and shuttle driver in a fledgling fleet of two buses. Through his years at UTSA, he progressed many positions related to service delivery including Police guard and dispatcher, Info Tech Systems Analyst and then Assistant, Associate, and Director positions.
As a UTSA alum, Clay is dedicated to the University and his team. His approach to parking is one of service-oriented education to students and employees. Among his proudest achievements is the creation of a Customer Service program emphasizing a primary goal of using education to encourage adherence to policy thereby avoiding citations. This approach has allowed patrons to reduce their financial burden and reduce the volume of infractions on campus.Clay Haverland
