Doug Williams named Director for the department of Transportation Services


Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas

 

October 20, 2010: Texas A&M University announces that Doug Williams has been named Director for the department of Transportation Services.  Doug has served in the department for 28 years and most recently as Interim Director.  Doug graduated in 1983 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanized Agriculture.  He has been working for the University since 1982.  Doug began in Transit as a bus driver when the service was introduced to campus, and has experience in virtually every area of the Transportation Services department.  During his time at Texas A&M, he received the Presidential Meritorious Service Award.  He is a member of the International Parking Institute and the Texas Parking Association.  Doug has presented at numerous industry conferences including Texas Parking Association and Midwest Campus Parking Association. Peter Lange named Executive Director for the Department of Transportation Services

October 12, 2010: Texas A&M University announces that Peter Lange has been named Executive Director for the department of Transportation Services.  Peter has served in the department for the last 7 years and most recently as Interim Executive Director.  Peter has been a leader in the parking industry for over 10 years, contributing expertise in the areas of marketing, communications, special events, visitor parking, information technology, HR, payroll, permits and customer service. Prior to working at Texas A&M Peter was systems administrator and assistant director for Georgia Tech’s Parking and Transportation department in Atlanta Georgia. In his ten years at Georgia Tech and Texas A&M Peter has implemented numerous software applications and web enabled the majority of A&M’s parking process. Peter is a member and past chairman of T2 Systems Customer Advisory Board, member of the Texas Parking Association and a member of the International Parking Institute. Peter has authored a number of industry articles and has presented at numerous industry conferences including Texas Parking Assoc., International Parking Institute, Canadian Parking Assoc., T2, and National Association of College Auxiliary Services.

Dennis Burns Joins Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.

Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that L. Dennis Burns, CAPP has joined the firm in their Phoenix office as a National Parking Practice Builder and Regional Vice President. Mr. Burns brings over 28 years of national parking/transportation management and consulting experience including expertise in urban transportation planning, parking strategic planning, feasibility studies, supply/demand analysis, shared parking analysis, parking plans for transit-oriented developments, and parking management best practice reviews. He has led national research and analysis efforts in the areas of parking system organizational development, smart parking technology options for transit station area plans, parking as an economic development strategy, and parking system branding and marketing program development. His clients include airports, municipalities, healthcare facilities, private developers, universities, and parking operators.

 

 

Shelley Deats Appointed to Assistant Director

Shelley Deats will join the UTSA Business Auxiliary Services Parking Division on November 2nd as the Assistant Director. She comes to us with 10 years of service in higher education with specific attention to management, customer service, problem-solving and administrative communication.

Prior to joining UTSA, Ms. Deats served as the Manager of Parking and Transportation Services at Baylor University and as Coordinator for Communications and as an Emergency Dispatcher for The University Police Department. She was instrumental in leading a smooth transition of Baylor Parking & Transportation Services to become its own independent operation, which had previously reported to the University Police Department. This transition along with the acquisition of a consultant was a major factor in laying a footprint for a successful Parking & Transportation program.

Shelley’s experience working in a university setting and serving on Baylor’s Parking & Transportation Committee, as well as the Campus Accommodation Committee focusing on ADA needs, has prepared her for the position as UTSA Parking Division Assistant Director.

Ms. Deats earned her BA as a Communications Specialist from Baylor University. Please welcome Shelley to UTSA.
